I don’t own one, but my boss came to my office asking for help.  I tinkered and googled and this is what I found to work:

• remove the battery from the device
• connect the device to a powered USB port on your computer (without battery)
• wait for the  “Connected” screen to come on
• insert the battery pack into the device while its still plugged in
• “safe eject” your device from your computer (taskbar)
• unplug the device from the computer
• reconnect the device to your computer
• the device will now recharge properly

These are the steps that worked for me.
